With the rising levels of air pollution in Delhi and the surrounding areas of North India, people are scared and traumatized for their health. It is not just the netizens that are sharing their thoughts and their constant redressal on the social media, popular Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh shared his grievances appealing to the Prime Minister to do something about the condition.

Singh has reached out to the Chief Ministers of Delhi, Punjab and Haryana as well to share his thoughts and persuade them to find better ways to devise a mechanism that would help control the air pollution spikes in North India that is leading to deteriorating health conditions in the people around.

In the recent reports from the air control board, it recorded the air quality index as severe as 999 in the National Capital Region which is almost 20 times more than what the normal range is like. Following such severe conditions, a public health emergency was issued in the stated following which several schools were also shut down till November 9, 2019.

Harbhajan took to his twitter to share a twitter message with the concerned authorities, addressing some of the country’s decision makers to take the next step to finally implement effective mitigation ways to fight the deteriorating quality of air in North India.

In his message, he stated saying, “I want to speak about the pollution in North India. We all are a cause for it, including me. We drive cars and burn fuel and cause harm to the environment. We have learnt over the last few years that fodder burning also causes a lot of pollution.”

He further added saying, “It is harmful for every child, anyone residing in those areas. We have also learnt that our life expectancy will reduce by around 10 years.”

Addressing the situation further, Harbhajan also mentioned in the video that he wants the Chief Ministers of Punjab, Delhi and Haryana to finally meet PM Narendra Modi and discuss about the ways in which one can battle the shortcomings. He wants the political leaders to keep every single citizen of India in mind in this time of crisis, including the farmers and the other underprivileged people. He stated that he wants the leaders to find ways to benefit the situation quickly and effective to bring about change for everyone’s well being around.

Harbhajan concluded the video saying, “PM Modi, please give your time to this and guide us how we can make India clean as well as healthy. We will also contribute in whatever way we can in order to keep our environment healthy.”
