As part of a seven-day visit to the United States, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take part in two round tables with the Chief Executive Officers of American companies - one in Houston and the other in New York.

PM Modi will address the annual United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session in New York on September 27.

Foreign Secretary of India Vijay Gokhale at a press conference on Thursday said PM Modi’s first stop in the U.S will be Houston on September 21. His first engagement is a round table with several chief executives of the energy sector from companies like BP, Exxon Mobil, and Schlumberger.

Mentioning that energy is a major new component in the Indo-U.S. trade mix, Gokhale said India is now importing $4 billion worth of oil and gas from the United States.

The Foreign Secretary did not confirm if trade-related announcements would be made by Modi and President Donald Trump at the ‘Howdy Modi!’ event scheduled to take place on September 22 at historic NGR Stadium.

PM Modi will be addressing several U.S. Congress members from both Republican and Democratic party and about 50,000 Indian Americans at the mega India diaspora event.
