Two MLAs of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were arrested in two different cases in Delhi. The police arrested Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan on charges of outraging the modesty of a woman and criminal intimidation, and the Mehrauli MLA Naresh Yadav in an alleged case of sacrilege incident in Malerkotla.

Joint Commissioner of Police, Southeast Range, R P Upadhyay, said that, "On July 22, the woman had recorded her statement before the magistrate under Section 164 of CrPC. She had alleged while she was returning from the legislator's residence, a vehicle tried mowing her down and Amanatullah was sitting in it."

Punjab Police IG (Patiala Zone) Paramraj Singh Umra Nangal said in Chandigarh, "We have arrested AAP MLA Naresh Yadav from his house in Delhi. He will be produced in the Malerkotla court on Monday."  

The paty chief Arvind Kejriwal blames Prime Minister over the arrest of its legislators. Reacting to the arrests, Delhi Chief Minister said “Modi was sending Delhiites to jail under false cases.”

admi Party(AAP) has 67 legislators in the 70-member Delhi assembly after it swept to power in February 2015. Till now, eleven AAP legislators have been arrested in different cases so far.

Kejriwal tweeted that, “Why is Modi ji not arresting perpetrators of crime against women? It is shameful that Modi ji has diverted the entire police from protecting women to arreting his political opponents.”

“Two MLAs arrested in a day is a proof his frustration. CBI, ACB, Delhi Police, Punjab Police,” his deputy Manish Sisodia said.

“Amanatullah was not even allowed to wear slippers/while arresting all the CCTV cameras were turned towards ceiling by police. This is Modi’s law. He gives a damn to law and evidences. People are watching. AAP’s rising graph has scared Modi,” AAP leader Ashutosh tweeted.
