Rajpath in capital is getting ready for Guinness Book of World Records on International Yoga Day with a mammoth 37,000 participants practicing Yoga under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Security beefed up for the celestial event held on Sunday. In the light of terror threats Delhi Police took the venue under their control days back. Now the every nook and corner of Rajpath is under surveillance.

Prime Minister Narenda Modi, who initiated the idea at the United Nations last year, will arrive at Rajpath in the early hours of Sunday to kick start the program. A brief intro about the prominence of the day will be followed by the 35-minute demonstration beginning at 7 am. Around 37,000 enthusiasts are expected to join the function on both sides of Rajpath making it the largest Yoga Demonstration ever.

Four experts, including Baba Ramdev, will be attending the event at Rajpath to exhibit asanas, which will be projected through 28 big screens. Around 80-100 foreigners from around 50 countries are also expected to take part in the exercises. A 1,400 meter stretch on Rajpath will have 37,000 yoga mats laid out for the participants, many of whom will be government officers and staff.

According to official sources, the Lalit Kala Akademi, Sahitya Akademi, IGNCA and National Museum have been roped in for the event. Over 300 selected works of art, dance and music performances, workshops, and other presentations by 150 plus artists from across India and overseas will be showcased to depict the importance of yoga.

Before that thousands of participants descended on Saturday at Rajpath to perform various 'asanas' during a rehearsal for the International Yoga Day on Sunday. Officials of AYUSH Ministry, which is the coordinating ministry for the event said that around 12,000 participants, comprising students from various schools, NCC cadets and others performed yoga asanas as per the common yoga protocol.
