A fresh controversy over Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) in Pune has left many voters bewildered.

The faulty machine, placed at a polling booth at Shamrao Kalmadi School in the city, has been reportedly transferring all votes to the Congress. The voters have complained that no matter which button was pressed on the EVM, only Congress' light blinked in response.

The incident was bought to light by a few alert voters who notified the election officials about the malfunction and demanded all process of voting be stopped at once in the booth.

"The Election Commission authorities have ordered a new machine for this particular polling booth which is expected to come soon," said local BJP activist Madhur Sahasrabuddhe.

The poll panel has allowed 28 voters who have already cast their votes in the defective EVM, to re-vote.

Whether the malfunction is accidental or engineered is left to be ascertained. Meanwhile, social media is abuzz with reactions, with a section of people downright holding Congress responsible for the rig.
