Archie Andrews of Archie Comics is going to be killed. The famous comic book character Archie, that we have grown up with, will heroically sacrifice himself while trying to save a friend.

On Tuesday, Archie Comics made an announcement that Archie will get killed in the July installment of "Life with Archie". According to the publishers of Archie Comics, the popular comic character will die while trying to save a friend of his.

"Life with Archie" is the grown-up rendition of the comic book series that revolves around Archie and his Riverdale gang.    

Archie Comics publisher and co-CEO Jon Goldwater issued a statement saying ever since 'Life with Archie' was launched five years ago, they had been building a story for the moment when Archie would die.

A story that deals with an adult Archie had to show his last moment as well, added Goldwater.

 "Life with Archie" No. 36 will tell the story of Archie's final moments in detail. In issue No. 37 the comic book will take one year leap and focus on Archie's friends Betty, Veronica, Jughead and Reggie. His Riverdale gang will take forward the legacy of their red-headed friend.

The character Archie first appeared in 1941 in comic books and went on to become a colorful icon of wholesomeness.

Archie Comics, in recent years, have taken up the issues of gay characters and the zombie apocalypse in Riverdale, Archie's fictional hometown.

However, the freckle-faced comic character, will continue to deal with issues. He will be alive and well in other series.
