Come February 12 and the BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will be seen discussion important issues faced by the citizens in tea stalls, in the first such meetings in Ahmedabad. The campaign has been titled "Chai Pe Charcha with NaMo" (a discourse over tea with NaMo).

On Tuesday, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj stated that Modi will meet people at tea stalls and answer questions related to good governance.

The move has been devised following the 'tea-seller' jibe flung at the Gujarat chief minister by Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar who stated that Modi would never become PM of the country but if he wants to serve tea arrangements could be made outside the venue of the January 17 Congress session.

The unique campaign is an attempt to reach out to maximum voters during the campaign.

The BJP hopes to reach out to at least two crore people through the "Chai Pe Charcha" campaign, which it says is an Indian concept. People discuss politics whenever they sit for a cup of tea with friends and acquaintance, said Swaraj.

According to Swaraj 10 rounds of the campaign will be held and if possible maybe 15 rounds. The programme will be held at 1000 locations simultaneously in 300 cities all over the country on the same date and time.

During these campaigns several BJP leaders including Modi would discuss key governance issues with people at tea-stalls at various select locations.
