With celebs, techies, corporates and the whole world taking the ice-bucket challenge - meant to spread awareness about the degenerative neuro disease ALS - even mobile companies aren't shying away from taking the challenge and how.
Using the ice-bucket challenge as a media, mobile giants like Samsung is sashaying the water-resistant capabilities of its S5 and how.
Taking a dig at itsrivals, Samsung recently posted a video of the Galaxy S5 taking the ice-bucket challenge and then challenging the iPhone 5s, HTC One M8 and Nokia Lumia 930 to do the same. That's right!
Quite interestingly, Samsung has nominated only those phones which are not water-resistant.
By now, the world is aware of Samsung’s sardonic marketing style, whether it’s taking its wall-hugger posters to major airports or mocking the iPhone’s screen size and features. But with the ice-bucket challenge, Samsung might have taken things a bit too far this time.
Although it's a smart way to blow one's trumpet, seems like Samsung has missed the point that the ice-bucket challenge is meant for a creating awareness about a fatal disease and not for self-publicity.
The video has drawn both appreciation and flak for its creativity and insensitivity. What's your take?
