The woes don't seem to end for Indian boxers. First, they were denied international exposure ahead of the Commonwealth Games. And now, the seven-member men's boxing team are having trouble getting visa - something that could lead to the cancellation of their participation in the Chemistry Cup in Halle, Germany.

The Indian pugilists had to forego foreign trips for months now owing to the suspension of the Indian Amateur Boxing Federation (IABF) by the world body (AIBA). And now, with almost a month to go for the Glasgow Games, the last-minute visa cancellation comes as a huge blow.

The ad-hoc committee of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) had furnished all the relevant papers seeking visas for the boxers and the support staff a couple of weeks back. However, the German Embassy tuned down their visa requests, leaving the boxers in the cold.

"Their applications were rejected. This was certainly a big trip for Indian boxers ahead of the Commonwealth Games, but there's hardly anything one can do now," Tarlochan Singh, the chairman of the committee, told TOI.

"Even the Ministry of External Affairs failed to help us get the visas. We also requested the sports ministry, but nothing worked out. We have no clue what went wrong," Singh added.
