Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, a teenager currently gaining attention in Indian cricket, is poised to achieve another significant milestone. Reports indicate that the 15-year-old has been chosen as a potential candidate for his debut with the senior Indian team. Sooryavanshi is among those suggested for India's upcoming trip to Ireland, joining various other hopefuls. It is anticipated that the team will consist of a mix of experienced and newer players, as the selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar aims to evaluate the strength of the squad. A source from the Indian cricket board mentioned, "He is being considered for the Ireland tour, and his name has been shortlisted along with many other athletes. " The newspaper reported that Vaibhav is likely to be included for the series in Ireland as well as the trip to Zimbabwe planned for later this year.

Vaibhav, who has already achieved many records in junior cricket, has kicked off the IPL 2026 season impressively for the Rajasthan Royals. He scored an incredible 26-ball 78 against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, followed by a 17-ball 52 against the Chennai Super Kings, and a 14-ball 39 against the Mumbai Indians. This performance has led former players and experts to push for his inclusion in the senior national team. IPL chairman Arun Dhumal also noted that Vaibhav should become the youngest player to debut for India, breaking the current records held by Sachin Tendulkar and Shafali Verma. "What a fantastic batting performance by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi this IPL 2026 season. This young talent definitely merits a chance to debut for the Team India as the youngest based on his performances. It’s not often you get to pick such a skilled and very young player. He truly deserves to be recognized as the youngest debutant for India," IPL chairman Arun Dhumal posted on X. Other former Indian players, including Irfan Pathan and Anil Kumble, have also expressed that Vaibhav seems prepared to advance to the national team.

Currently, Tendulkar holds the record for the youngest male player to play for India at the international level, debuting at the age of 16 years and 205 days. Meanwhile, Shafali Verma holds the women's national record, having played for the Indian women's team at 15 years, seven months, and 27 days.

India is also scheduled to visit England after the series in Ireland, where they will compete in five T20 matches and three one-day internationals starting from July 1. For the England tour, the BCCI is expected to welcome back some senior players.
