The BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao criticized the raid on his brother-in-law's home and the media's portrayal of a family event as a rave party. He said that the BRS has been playing a constructive opposition role, exposing the government's failures and scandals. Rama Rao accused the government of being unable to provide satisfactory explanations for the issues raised by the BRS and of trying to involve his family members in cases. He questioned whether permission is required in Telangana to hold a family function at his brother-in-law's newly built house.
The gathering was a family event, not a drug-related function. People of all ages, from the mother-in-law to 4-year-old children, were present. Alcohol may have been consumed there. The attendees are being wrongly referred to as women and men in the media, when they were actually couples and family members. After 22 hours, the excise officials did not find any drugs, despite using sniffer dogs to search for traces. All the tests, including the one on the brother-in-law, were negative. The only issue found was that there were more liquor bottles at the venue than allowed. However, the case has now been turned into a drug-related one under certain sections of the NDPS Act, even though no drugs were found. The government should address real issues like loan waivers, Musi river beautification, and the implementation of welfare schemes, instead of pursuing this case.
According to Rama Rao, he was in a meeting with Chandrashekar Rao when the event occurred, and then he came home. However, it is claimed that he left the location five minutes ago. BRS leader and MLA T. Harish Rao stated that the allegation of drug use was part of an attempt to smear the Rama Rao family. Harish Rao called this a tactic to divert people's attention and an extreme form of vindictive politics.
The government officials have announced some major news for the upcoming weekend. However, the Congress party is now spreading propaganda on social media about a drug party at a farmhouse. While it was known that a party was happening at a politician's residence, the authorities conducted raids and labeled it as a rave party, even though the politician and his wife were not present. Harish Rao condemns these actions, stating that they are attempts to damage the politician's image and divert people's attention. He appeals to the police and officials to tell the truth and not succumb to governmental pressure, as dragging family members into politics is unacceptable.
