Compared to the other 49, the state of Texas fares well when it comes to umpteen measurements.
Its population and economy go on to grow at a record pace. It contains the country's No. 1 best city to live in. It is the second-most diverse state in America.
When it comes to gender equality, however, the state has fewer bragging rights. Or at least according to a new list, published by personal finance site Wallet Hub, that ranks the state the third-worst for equal treatment for women.
In compiling the list, Wallet Hub looked at elements like the gap between genders when it came to financial gain, work hours and the number of held executive positions in each state. It as well looked at the number of women serving representative positions in each state.
The factors considered were split into three categories (workplace environment, education and health, and political empowerment) and ranked. Then, the separate categorical rankings were averaged for an overall ranking and a position on the list.
Texas ranked No. 47 when it came to political empowerment, 45 in education and health and 37 in a workplace environment. The state was also found to be the third-worst when it comes to gender equality in political representation.
According to the list, the state where women receive the least equal treatment is Utah, and the best is New York.
