A marriage procession in India's Bihar witnessed a peculiar sight. Instead of the groom leading the marriage procession to the bride's house it was a role reversal. In this case the bride took the procession to the groom's house.

In India it's an established social custom for the groom to take a procession to the bride's house for marriage. However, in this case it was not the case. And the reason was a hefth dowry demand on the eve of the marriage.

The in-laws of the bride made a demand for dowry which the bride's side refused to give. So the groom and his family did not turn up for marriage on the scheduled date.

The incident happened at Marwari Tola area, in Shaikhpura district, which is a hotbed of Maoists.

Chandan Kumar was set to marry Veena Kumari of Khair village, in Jamui district. The marriage was set to take place on Wednesday and the bride's family had made arrangements for the ceremony and party.

On the scheduled date, all the guests arrived for the marriage, but the groom did not turn up. According to reports, the bride’s family had refused the grooms demand for extra dowry.

So the next day, the bride led a marriage procession to the grooms house with and asked the in-laws to get the marriage solemnised. She also threatened her in-laws of taking the matter to the police if the marrige was not held.

According to reports, the groom tried to flee the scene when he saw the bride. However, the local villagers caught hold of him and the marriage was finally solemnised.
