Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Mary Kom' and Yash Raj Films's 'Haider' have managed to avoid a box office clash. The Priyanka Chopra starrer biopic and Shahid Kapoor-starrer Haider were both scheduled for release on September 5. But the clash has been averted.
Bhansali's biopic on Mary Kom was initially slotted for release on October 2 holiday weekend. However, he changed it as it to September 5 to avoid a clash with Haider and Hrithik Roshan-starrer 'Bang Bang'.
Recently, YRF approached Bhansali requesting him to move the release date of 'Mary Kom'. But the director, who had gone through the ordeal once, refused to budge.
Apparently YRF had plans for a solo release for Daawat-e-Ishq, starring Parineeti Chopra and Aditya Roy Kapur. Daawat-e-Ishq was also due for release on September 5. So YRF made a request to Bhansali but he refused to change the release date again.
Apparently, Bhansali thinks at this juncture changing the release date of Mary Kom will not do as the promotional team has already started its work.
Now YRF has postponed release date of Daawat-e-Ishq's to September 19.
