Cyclone Fengal: Ten Dead and Normal Life Disrupted

The remnants of Cyclone Fengal continued to bring heavy rain and flooding across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, even after it weakened. At least 15 districts in Tamil Nadu are likely to receive heavy rainfall, with the weather department issuing a 'yellow' alert. At least 10 people have died in rain-related incidents in both regions. Rescue operations are ongoing, with the Indian Army helping evacuate stranded citizens from flooded streets. The Prime Minister assured the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister of all possible assistance to address the flood situation and damage caused by the Cyclone. The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha described the impact of Cyclone Fengal in Tamil Nadu as "devastating" and urged Congress workers to support the administration in relief efforts. The weather department has issued a yellow alert for 15 districts in Tamil Nadu, predicting heavy rain of up to 11 cm in the interior and Western Ghat districts.

The Cyclone Fengal caused extensive damage in 14 districts, affecting roads, electricity lines, and leading to severe flooding. The BJP Tamil Nadu president visited the flooded salt pans in Marakkanam. The cyclone weakened into a deep depression but continued to bring heavy rains and floods across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Visuals showed massive floodwaters submerging buses and vehicles in Krishnagiri. Additionally, a second landslide hit Tiruvannamalai, a day after the first one. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister requested ₹ 2,000 crore from the National Disaster Relief Funds to support rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts following the extensive damage caused by the Cyclone.
