Prime Minister Narendra Modi's plane encountered a technical problem at Deoghar in Jharkhand this afternoon. The plane will have to stay at the airport until the issue is fixed, and another plane is being sent from New Delhi, causing a delay in the PM's return to the capital. Today, the Prime Minister addressed two rallies in Jharkhand to commemorate tribal icon Birsa Munda's anniversary, which is celebrated as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, and ahead of the next round of state assembly elections. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi's helicopter was grounded for 45 minutes in Jharkhand's Godda, awaiting air traffic clearance, leading the Congress to claim that the delay was intentional to disrupt the Opposition leader's campaign schedule. The Congress suggested that the PM's rally near Deoghar was prioritized over Mr. Gandhi's movements. The helicopter was later allowed to take off. In his earlier rallies, PM Modi criticized the Congress and Rahul Gandhi.

The Congress party is allegedly plotting to eliminate reservations for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes in order to weaken them. Prime Minister Modi has accused the Congress "prince" of conspiring against these reservations, which his father had previously termed as "slavery" and "bonded labor." Modi vowed to thwart any such conspiracy. Additionally, Modi claimed that the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, which is allied with the Congress, is helping "infiltrators" become permanent residents of Jharkhand. In response, Rahul Gandhi of the Congress party called for a nationwide caste census, stating it would change India's landscape, and promised to remove the 50% reservation ceiling.
