The police have submitted a 3,991-page charge sheet against 17 accused individuals, including actor Darshan Tugudeepa and his associates, in the alleged murder of Renuka Swami in Bengaluru city in June this year. All 17 accused are in judicial custody, and Darshan has been transferred from Parappana Agrahara Prison to Ballari Central Prison after he was caught on camera interacting with a rowdy sheeter in the prison. Darshan was arrested by the Kamakshipalya police in connection with Renuka Swami's alleged murder, a resident of Chitradurga district. It is alleged that on Darshan's orders, his associates brought Renuka Swami from Chitradurga to a location in Bengaluru, where Darshan and his girlfriend Pavithra Gowda reportedly tortured and killed him. The alleged murder is said to have occurred after Renuka Swami sent inappropriate pictures to Darshan's girlfriend.

The police have compiled a detailed charge sheet in the case, which spans 7 volumes and 10 files. The charge sheet includes statements from 3 eyewitnesses and a total of 231 witnesses, with 27 of them recording their statements before a magistrate. The police have received all the necessary reports from the Forensic Science Laboratory in Bengaluru, but are still waiting for the full reports from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory in Hyderabad, which include statements from technical witnesses. The Police Commissioner has described the charge sheet as "water tight," indicating that the investigation has been thorough and comprehensive.
