In a shocking incident, hidden cameras were found in the girl washroom hostel at Gudlavalleru Engineering College in Gudivada, Andhra Pradesh. As per ongoing news, the videos of girls from their bathroom were being circulated within the boy's hostel, which led to huge outrage among the students in the college. On Thursday night after the students identified one of the hidden cameras there were huge protests with the raising slogans, ‘We want justice’. Students demanded immediate action. Police quickly interfered in the issue and took a few final-year engineering student into custody, suspected to be involved in the hidden camera scandal. Vijay Kumar, a final year B Tech student was said to be the suspect, who is residing in the boy's hostel in connection with the incident. Vijay Kumar’s laptop and electronic gadgets have been seized and police are looking for a thorough investigation. Few alleged that one of the girl students and her friend's video had been shared among the hostel students and one was demanded for some ransom. Later the girls collected all the videos and deleted them. But there is no official confirmation regarding the ongoing news of the girl video surfacing among the hostel students.
College administration and police have checked all the bathrooms and confirmed that there are no hidden cameras in the hostel and management also said that they will cooperate with the police investigation. Management promised students to take proper measures over the security on campus. According to police, laptops, mobile phones, and other electronic devices of all the students have been examined and college staff also were checked. Police have not found any evidence of the hidden camera videos. This case is similar to the Chandigarh University 2022 incident, there was a similar breach of privacy. There was a nationwide uproar over the incident at that time. YSRCP leader Vijay Sai Reddy took his social media and wrote about the incident, he wrote, “The #GudlavalleruCollegeIncident is a gross violation of dignity and privacy. Sharing such videos is criminal and immediate action is needed to bring those responsible to justice. Make the ColIege Management liable. I demand safety for all students! #JusticeForVictims @ncbn”.

Ruling party, Telugu Desam Party TDP has written about the incident as well. They wrote, “The Chief Minister has ordered an inquiry into the concern of the students about the presence of hidden cameras in the hostel. He ordered the District Collector and SP to go to the spot immediately along with District Minister Kollu Ravindra”. TDP party general secretary Nara Lokesh also responded to the incident. He wrote, “ I asked the authorities for details about the protest of female students at Gudlavalleru Engineering College. I have ordered an inquiry into the allegations of hidden cameras. Strict action will be taken against the culprits and those responsible if it is found that they have committed a mistake in the investigation. Management should take early steps without ragging and harassment in colleges”. Police are investigating the case and they cleared that there are no hidden cameras in the hostel.
