Updates of Parliament Monsoon Sessions

The monsoon session of the Parliament will begin today at the new parliament building. This session is going to have 31 bills to be taken up. The sessions will continue till August 11th and will have 17 sittings. The government has already communicated with 34 parties to continue smooth monsoon sessions.

Digital Personal Data Protection Bill, 2023 and 'To replace the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Ordinance, 2023' are the two key bills among the 31 bills that are to be presented before the parliament.

The Personal Data Protection bill was withdrawn earlier and said will be presented before with necessary changes. Supreme Court has said that privacy of personal data is a fundamental right and asked to overreach the framework of the bill. One more amendment of the Delhi Ordinance will give powers to the Lieutenant Governor (LG) regarding transfers and posting of the official.

Cinematography (Amendment) Bill 2019, DNA Technology Regulation Bill, 2019; Mediation Bill, 2021; Biological Diversory Bill, 2022; Multi-State Cooperative Societies Bill, 2022; Constitution Order Bill (Scheduled Tribes Third Amendment), 2022 for the state of Himachal Pradesh; Constitution Order Bill, 2022 (Scheduled tribes Fifth Amendment), 2022 for the state of Chhattisgarh. These all bills will be amended in this monsoon session. While Postal Services Bill 2023 and National Cooperative University Bill, 2023 will be newly passed. New bills will be passed regarding Mines and Minerals Development and Press and Registration of Periodical bill.

Leaving this some of the parties are planning to take up the Manipur violence on the parliament.
