19 killed in landslides: Heavy Rains in North India

Several parts of North India are being affected by the heavy rains and landslides. 19 were reportedly killed in landslides related to rains. In the national capital, many roads and residential areas were submerged in rainwater as the irrigation system was a complete failure.

The frightening videos are viral on social media. Many vehicles, bridges and roads were swallowed by the flood water with the overflow of river Yamuna. Delhi has recorded the highest rainfall since July 1982. Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and many other states in North India are seeing heavy downpours, which are rising the water level of the rivers.

On Sunday Delhi received 153 mm of rain. The NCR of Gurugram and Noida roads will be closed on Monday. Railway services were also been halted because of the over-flooded water on the railway tracks.

While in Himachal Pradesh, Government has issued a red flag. Schools are closed on Monday and Tuesday. There were 13 flash floods as a result 700 roads have been closed in the past 36 hours in North. Red Alert was issued in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathuaa and Samba districts as well. The civic system is completely failed due to water clogging and heavy rainfall.
