10th Round of Bidding Underway for 5G Spectrum

The auction of the 5G spectrum entered the third day on Thursday and the tenth round of bidding is taking place for the ultra-speed internet and power lag-free connectivity. The auctions gained Rs 1.49 lakh crores and Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel were ahead in the bids. Five rounds of bidding were completed yesterday. Union Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told that there is good competition seen in all the bands. He expressed his happiness for the response that is received for the band 700 MHz which had no takers in the past two auctions that were held in 2016 and 2021. The total worth of bidding is said to be Rs 4.3 lakh crores with a total 72 GHz of radiowaves. The final bidding are expected to be completed today or tomorrow.

Several analysts revealed that Reliance Jio happened to be the most aggressive participant in the race. The expected 5G subscribers by the end of 2027 are said to be 500 million Indians. After Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and Adani Data Networks are the other participants. The allocation of the spectrums will be completed before August 15th and the 5G services will start from September or October this year. Super high-speed 5G services are expected to be offered in all the cities of India by the end of 2022. The rollout of 5G is expected to bring more developments in remote regions of the country.
