Supreme Court Orders full Respect for Sex Workers

Two parties have been fighting for the rights of the sex workers and they are Tripti Tandon, advocate for the Durbar Mahila Samanwaya Committee and Usha Cooperative. A Supreme Court order told that they do not recognize to impact the of recognizing sex work as a profession. Tripti Tandon told that the court's order told that the sex workers must be treated with full respect in terms of humanity and dignity. The decision has been taken as per the Article 21 for the Constitution. The Supreme Court as per the order from May 19th highlighted that every individual in the country has a right to get dignity as per Article 21. The constitutional protection has to be kept in mind by the authorities.

Tripti Tandon clarified in a statement that following the Union's reservations, the court agreed to take up the suggestions of the panel. She said that the statement told the cops not to interfere or take any criminal action in the case of adult, consensual sex work. The government submitted the response. Another recommendation told that the sex workers should be arrested or harassed or victimized or penalized when arrested in any raid. The Supreme Court wanted a strict implementation of the suggestion of the panel. The cops are asked to behave with dignity. The court also asked for a survey of protective homes under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act to review the cases of women who are detained in such cases.
