Tata Group acquired the airline Air India and it is back to the Tatas after 69 years. Ratan Tata, the Chairman of Tata Sons and Chairman Tata Trusts extended a warm welcome for the passengers who are traveling on Air India. A short video byte was posted on the official social media page of Air India that had the message by Ratan Tata. He said that they are all excited to work together to make Air India the major choice for the passengers in terms of comfort and service. "#FlyAI: A warm welcome extended by Mr Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus, Tata Sons, Chairman Tata Trusts, to our passengers on board Air India flights" posted the official statement.

Tata Group took over Air India on last Thursday after 69 years. Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in the past said that the debt is expected to be Rs 60,000-70,000 crores including all the liabilities. Rs 47,000 crores debt burden is transferred to the Special Purpose Vehicle. The Indian government has been handling the airline from the past few years and it was taken over by Tatas. It was the Tatas who setup Tata Airlines in 1932. It was renamed as Air India in 1946 and the government took the control of Air India in 1953. JRD Tata continued to be the Chairman in 1977. Ratan Tata also shared an old photograph of JRD Tata getting down from Air India.
