Covid Surge: Yellow Alert in New Delhi

The Omicron variant is making the world sleepless. The cases of the new variant are present across the country in all the states. Considering the sudden rise in the new cases, the government of New Delhi imposed Yellow Alert (Level 1) across the national capital. Several safety guidelines are issued by the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The movie theatres and multiplexes are asked to operate on odd-even dates in some of the regions and gyms will be closed. The night curfews will continue to be in the force in the national capital. Arvind Kejriwal had a meeting with the top officials in the state after which the restrictions are announced. He said that the positivity rate has been 0.5 percent from the past two days.

The orders will come into effect from Wednesday and the schools, colleges, gyms and spas are asked to be closed. The buses, metro trains will have to operate with 50 percent occupancy. Arvind Kejriwal said that the government of New Delhi is ten times prepared than earlier and they are ready to deal with the coronavirus cases. Social, political, religious, festival and entertainment-related activities will be banned in the state. The hotels will remain open but the conference halls and the banquet halls will be closed. The restaurants can operate with 50 percent occupancy between 8 AM and 10 PM and the bars can be operated with 50 percent occupancy from 12 noon to 10 PM. Only two persons are allowed to travel in autos.

All the private offices can operate with 50 percent occupancy from 9 AM to 5 PM. New Delhi has a night curfew imposed between 10 PM and 5 AM.
