700 People Detained in Kashmir Before Amit Shah's Visit

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is all set to visit Srinagar today and before his visit, 700 people have been detained in Jammu and Kashmir as per the Public Safety Act (PSA). Most of the detentions are made in South Kashmir as per the reports from the government officials. Most of the ground workers of the terrorist groups are arrested by the cops before Amit Shah's visit. All these detained people have been moved to jails outside Jammu and Kashmir. As per the PSA, an individual can be detained on the basis of the executive order for two years without any trial if their acts are a threat to the security of the region. Amit Shah will be in Jammu and Kashmir for three days from today.

The killings of the civilians have increased badly in the recent months and the Pakistan troops too turned aggressive across the borders after which tense situations are reported in Jammu and Kashmir. This is the first visit of Amit Shah after Article 370 was read down. The state was bifurcated into Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh in the year 2019. Amit Shah will conduct several security review meetings and will have launch several development-related projects in Srinagar today. Amit Shah will hold a public meeting tomorrow in Jammu. There are traffic restrictions implemented in Srinagar for these three days. The Jammu and Kashmir cops sought the help of the public to share the information about narcotic drug peddling, terrorism and other activities that are against the national security.
