Supreme Court Grills Centre on Coronavirus Vaccination Drive

The Supreme Court has been taking a toll on the government about the vaccination drive in the country which is happening at a slow pace. The Indian government is cornered and criticized for the ongoing drive. The government of India faced a tough time from the Supreme Court today. The top court questioned the Centre about the discrepancy of the vaccination supply for various age groups. The court questioned about why the states have to pay more for the vaccination and how CoWIN digital platform can be accessed by the people of the rural regions.

The Centre told the Supreme Court that the vaccination process for the adults across the country will be completed by the end of this year. The court asked the Centre about the digital divide reminding that most of the Indian villages are not having the facility of internet. The Centre said that the people in the villages can visit the computer centers and get registered on CoWIN to get vaccinated. The Supreme Court questioned if it is possible and if it can be practical? The top court asked the Centre to keep a watch on what is happening in the country and change the policy immediately. The Centre also said that the vaccination firms are producing more number of vaccinations and the Centre expressed its confidence of completing the vaccination program by the end of the year for adults.
