In a case of mass spreading of coronavirus, as many as 95 have been tested positive after attending a wedding a Patna on June 15. The symptomatic groom too died two days after the wedding.
Over 90 people who attended the wedding in a village 50 kms away from Patana have been tested positive to novel coronavirus.
Reportedly, the groom was a software engineer working in Gurugram. He had reached his village Paliganj on May 12 for his wedding preparations.
Amid the rise the coronavirus infections in Bihar, the groom started developing symptoms after he came to his home town but his family has neglected the issue and went on the arrangements for the wedding.
Two days after the wedding culminated, the groom’s health worsened and while his family was taking him to AIIMS hospital, he lost his life.
According to police sources, the groom was 30 years old and the family did not take him for COVID-19 test from the day he was suffering.
After the district administration was informed about the death of the groom in Paliganj village, the official tested his relatives. As many as 15 people who attended the wedding on June 15 tested positive.
Considering the panicky situation, the officials began contact tracing. On Monday, 80 more people were tested positive for COVID-19 which marks this case to be the first mass spread of coronavirus in Bihar.
The administration could not test the groom for COVID-19 as he was cremated by the family without informing the officials.
COVID-19 tests were conducted to all those who attended the wedding. Surprisingly, the bride tested negative.
The Patna administration has said that there was massive violation of rules by the family during the wedding and more than 90 people have attended the wedding though 50 was the permissible limit.
Also, social distancing norms were also not followed by anyone at the wedding.
