Rajasthan Health minister, Raghu Sharma has said that anyone found selling Patanjali’s Covid-19 medicine will face actions.

While the whole world has been working tirelessly to come up with a cure for the deadly coronavirus, scientist from the around the world are working ten times harder to make the vaccine for the global health crisis which has spread all over the globe, Baba Ramdev, launched a Covid-19 cure medicine claiming 100% success rate. On Tuesday when Patanjali launched this Coronavirus kit, Baba Ramdev claimed that this medicine is going to cure coronavirus within 7 days and that they have the success rate of 100%.

As soon as he launched the coronil medicine, it got into a controversy because Ayush Ministry came in between saying that they know nothing about the clinical trials and the testing of this medicine. Government banned the advertisement for this medicine and baba Ramdev called this a communication gap.

Rajasthan Health Minister, Raghu Sharma has said that Baba Ramdev and Patanjali did not take any permission from the state government for conducting clinical trials for the drug which they claim to be 100% success. He also said that the state government did not receive any proposal for clinical trials for the drug, so they did not give any permission in regard to this.

Baba Ramdev in the press conference launch said that the human trials were done in several cities including Jaipur and Delhi. Raghu Sharma said that no permission was taken from the state government as human trials should only be carried out if there is the permission from the state. Conducting Clinical trials without government’s permission comes under misleading the people and strict action will be taken against them

Raghu Sharma has also said that the Ayurvedic medicines can only act as immunity booster, but claiming that it is a cure without the permission of Ayush Ministry is just not acceptable.

Baba Ramdev said that the Patanjali Research Team and National Institute of Medical Sciences which is a university in Jaipur have worked on this medicine jointly. Ayush Ministry asked the Patanjali group to send them all the reports and studies of the clinical trials they conducted and also the compounds of the medicine which they claim to be the cure for coronavirus. The medicine is not yet available in the market. On Wednesday Ayush Ministry had received all the data. The Patanjali group did not send or take licenses from the state for developing or announcing a cure.

Ayush Ministry has now said that the medicine is not a cure from the coronavirus but can only be used for fever. Ayush Ministry has also asked Patanjali to not make false claims. Raghu Sharma has warned everyone in the state that if they were found selling Baba Ramdev’s claimed medicine for curing Covid-19, strict action will be taken against that seller. The minister also notified a gazette notification issues on the 21st of June, 2020 by the Centre under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940, 1945 which says that no one can sell any Ayurvedic drug for Covid-19 without permission from Ayush Ministry.
