Home Minister Amit Shah had a telephonic discussion with all CMs regarding the lockdown extension. Lockdown is extended thrice to reduce the coronavirus infection. Now the new discussion is about lockdown extension after 31st May.
A home ministry official said, the Home Minister spoke to all the CMs to know their views on lockdown extension beyond 31st May.
The meeting between the Home Minister and CMs was to decide the areas to focus on and the areas to be free from lockdown which will be implemented from 1st June.
The previous meetings about COVID-19 lockdown were between PM Modi and CMs. But this was the first time, CMs were discussing with the Home Minister. Before, Mr.Amit Shah was part of the discussions along with PM Modi.
The details of the meeting are not out yet as of now but it is understood that the majority of the CMs feel the need to extend the lockdown to arrest the virus. Simultaneously, the ministers want to reopen a few economic activities. The plan is to gradually return to a normal life still the first priority is minimizing the virus infection.
As of now, the government allowed limited access to domestic flights and railways services. The wait is to know what will come in the resuming category and what all are to be continued with restrictions. The final decision on lockdown extension with details will be out on 31st May when the current lockdown ends.
