649 confirmed cases and 13 deaths – Coronavirus in India

The coronavirus pandemic has been on a constant surge in India with the number of confirmed cases increasing with every single day. They country is on a 21 days lockdown as per the instructions of the Prime Minister.

The number of confirmed cases as of March 26, 2020 is 649 with 87 fresh cases reported the day before. Out of all the confirmed cases in India, 602 are Indian and 47 patients are foreigners. 43 patients have been cured and released from the hospital so far. The death toll has risen to 13.

Out of all the states, Maharashtra is the one taking the worst hit with 120 confirmed cases. Aside from that, Delhi has a total number of confirmed cases at 35, with three new cases reported on Wednesday.

Kerala has recorded 118 cases so far while things have taken a turn for the worse in Indore where 5 fresh cases have been reported with no travel history. The total count of Madhya Pradesh stands at 15 now.

Haryana has reported 16 confirmed cases, out of which 14 are foreigners. The number of confirmed cases in Goa and Gujarat is at 33 and 37 respectively. The number of cases in Karnataka has gone up to 41.

Uttar Pradesh has a total number of confirmed cases at 37 while Telangana is at 41 with 2 new confirmed cases on Wednesday.

Even Bihar reported 3 fresh new cases, and a total of nine confirmed cases have been reported in West Bengal. Andhra Pradesh reported 11 confirmed cases while Chandigarh stands at 7. Both Mizoram and Manipur have reported one confirmed cases each, both of whom have international travel history.

Following this alarming rate of spread, the Indian Government has imposed a 21 days lockdown, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging the citizens to abide by the rules. The basic necessity shops and services will remain open which include grocery, medical shops, banks etc. In lieu of this, all the financial aspects have also been postponed.
