The peace deal between the United States and the Afghan Taliban in Doha on Saturday will be attended by the Indian Ambassador to Qatar, as said by the official sources on Thursday.

This deal is said to allow for the withdrawal of the United States from Afghanistan as over 2,400 soldiers of the United States have been lost in Afghanistan since the late 2001.

According to the sources, the government of Qatar had invited India for the ceremony where the deal will be signed and it would be attended by P Kumaran who is the Indian Ambassador to Qatar.

This deal is said to be the first time the country India will be officially attending an event which involved the Taliban.

It has been said that the country India has been a key stakeholder in the process of peace and the reconciliation of Afghanistan.

Two former diplomats in the non- official capacity has been sent by India to a conference on Afghan peace process in Moscow in the month of November in the year 2018.

The high- level Taliban delegation, representatives of Afghanistan and also from several other countries which included the United States, Pakistan and China have attended the conference which was organized by Russia.

The United States, Russia and Iran which are the major powers have been reaching out to the Taliban as a part of efforts that are made to push the stalled Afghan peace process.

A national peace and reconciliation process which is led, owned and also controlled by Afghan has been supported by India.

The country India has also been maintaining that care should be taken for ensuring that any such process would not be leading to any ungoverned spaces where the relocation of the terrorists and their proxies can be possible.

It has been earlier stated by the officials that the participation of India as a witness would be dependent on the stance of the government of Ashraf Ghani who is the President.

It has been said that a delegation of Afghan of six members had left Kabul for Doha on Thursday in order to conduct the negotiation about the release of the Taliban fighter who are said to be around 5,000 in number and who are in custody of the government of Afghanistan.

This issue is already a part of the draft peace agreement and it is expected that Kabul would be dealing with this as soon as the deal between the United States and Taliban is signed on the 29th of February.
