Two more Passengers Test Positive for Coronavirus in Kolkata Airport

The Airport Authority of India has said that among the passengers who have arrived at the NSCBI Airport from Bangkok, two of them have been tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

This gets to three cases being confirmed of coronavirus in Kolkata with the total count heading to six cases in India.

A passenger named as Himadri Barman had been tested positive on Tuesday and another individual named as Nagendra Singh has tested positive on Wednesday, as said by Kaushik Bhattacharjee who is the director of the NSCBI Airport, to PTI.

He added saying that both the individuals who have been confirmed as being infected with the coronavirus have been sent to Beliaghata ID Hospital.

The suspension of the flights of two airlines which had direct flights between Kolkata and China has already been made.

IndiGo which is a low cost carrier has also suspended its flights temporarily between Kolkata and Guangzhou from the 6th of February.

The IndoGo airlines had made a statement which mentions that the flight service between Kolkata and Guangzhou would be suspended from 6th of February 2020 to 25th of February 2020 and the flight from Guangzhou to Kolkata would be suspended from 7th of February till the 26th of February.

After the decision that has been taken by the IndiGo airlines regarding the suspension of its flight, China Easter Airlines has also suspended its flights between Kolkata and Kunming in China from the 10th of February to 29th of February.

The screening of the passengers of the flights that are coming to Kolkata from Kunming and Guagzhou in China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Bangkok were being done since the 17th of January in order to make sure that the deadly coronavirus is not being spread.

Currently, the screening of the passengers who are arriving from Hong Kong, Singapore and Bangkok as the operation of flights to and from China have been stopped.

So far, India has confirmed six cases of coronavirus while the first three cases of being infected by the coronavirus has been recorded in Kerala.

The government of India is taking suitable steps in order to stop the disease from being spread by creating awareness among the people regarding the deadly coronavirus which has now be named as COVID- 19 and also by making sure that there exists isolation rooms in all the hospitals which includes both the private as well as the government hospitals.
