The Cabinet has decided to give Rs 1.3 crore to the former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan

Nambi Narayanan, the former scientist of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is said to receive Rs 1.3 crore as decided by the Cabinet. The amount is being given to him in order to settle the ISRO spy scandal case that was filed by him against the State in the Sub-Court in Thiruvananthapuram.

This amount which the Cabinet has decided to give is in addition to the Rs 50 lakh that was provided by the State on the basis of the order by supreme Court and Rs 10 lakh which was recommended by the National Human Rights Commission to Mr Nambi Narayanan.

According to the report that was recommended by the former Chief Secretary K. Jayakumar, the Cabinet decided for the submission of documents in order to be prepared by consulting the legal experts to the sub-court in order to settle the case and to act according to the directive from the court.

He was recognized as a victim by the then Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra who lead a three-judge Bench of the Supreme Court. He had been found as a victim of allegations which were trumped-up of spying by the Kerala Police. The State of Kerala was ordered by the court to pay him Rs 50 lakh as a compensation for his loss of fundamental right in order to live with dignity and self-respect.
