Preliminary results of the presidential election of Afghan declared

The preliminary results of the presidential election of Afghan has been announced in India on Monday which resulted in Ashraf Ghani on the course of a second five-year term.

Simultaneously, India said that it expects the complaints regarding the process of election would be addressed through the legal procedure that has been prescribed so as to see to it that the final results will be declared in a timely manner.

The election officials of Afghan has announced that 50.64 percent of votes have been secured by President Ghani in the midst of the allegations that have been raised of fraud and malpractice in the election that was held on September 18. Abdullah Abdullah, bwing the rival of Ghani rejected the result as he announced to challenge it.

Raveesh Kumar, the Minister of External Affairs said that India is committed to work with the government and the people of Afghanistan and would do its part in the fight against terrorism and the search for socio-economic development

"We welcome the announcement of the preliminary results of the Presidential election of Afghanistan held on 28 September and commend all the leaders and institutions for their hard work to preserve and strengthen democracy in the country," Raveesh Kumar said.

"We expect that the complaints would be addressed through the prescribed legal processes so that the final results are declared in a timely manner," he said as he responded to a query which was on the election outcome.

India has spend around USD 3 billion as a key stakeholder in Afghanistan for the reconstruction of the war-stricken country. The MEA spokesperson hoped that the leaders of Afghan and the other stakeholders to work together in order to strengthen the democratic policy further and to fight against the terrorism that the country is facing.
