As the safety of women is being concerned over few days after the veterinary doctors issue in Hyderabad, an NRI (Non Resident Indian) and three of his friends decided to follow the movement Pink Hoysala that has been setup for the protection of women and children but to their shock, they found that the vehicles were used by male personnel to collect bribes.
The four friends shot videos of six police personnel travelling in the Pink Hoysala (KA-02 G-1770) on December 7 in order to show how the cops had become alert regarding the safety of women and children across the nation.
“We saw the personnel munching on snacks from eateries/stalls and collecting money from the owners. If they are so busy collecting bribes, how will they respond to women and children in distress,” asked the NRI who works for a software company in the US.
Confronting the cops the four friends told them that they were in the wrong for which one of them apologized after realising that they had been filmed. “ Is this how Pink Hoysalas safeguard women in the city? I wouldn’t have dared to shoot the videos if I had been alone. The personnel would have locked me up for some reason and would have forcefully deleted the videos,” said the NRI.
“From the control room, I got the mobile number of assistant commissioner of police (VV Puram division) Vali Pasha. I spoke to him and explained the issue. He assured me of action against errant personnel,” the NRI said.
“The matter came to our notice the next morning. A departmental inquiry was initiated and two constables suspended,” Deputy commissioner of police (south) Rohini Sepat Katoch said.
