The main aim that the defence ministry of India is opting for is to at least have 50 tangible innovations sorted out by then by the startups which can then be inducted in the years to come.

The defence ministry is believed to be earmarking around Rs. 500 crore for its innovations for the Defence excellence (iDEX) initiative. This is going to help bring together innovators within the public and the private sectors along with the armed forced to further find new technological solutions for better defence.

Proposing and showing his support towards the initiative, Defence Minister of India, Mr Rajnath Singh stated saying that India could very well emerge as a $10 trillion economy in the coming 10-15 years if the innovations work out in their favour.

Singh further clarified stating that it is necessary for India to change course from being a subtle net importer to an overall net innovator as well as exporter of the defence technologies in the coming future.
