Election Commission To Announce Lok Sabha Poll Schedule Any Time Soon

Election Commission had done all the preparatory work before announcing the 2019 General election schedule along with the few states where assembly elections are due.

According to the reports, Election Commission to meet today and discuss some final modalities and logistical preparation for holding elections.

The elections are likely to spread over 7-8 phases from April to May.

The term of the 16th Lok Sabha ends on June 3, So Election commission have to conduct polls and results should be declared before the term of this Lok Sabha ends.

The Election Commission is also expected to conduct assembly elections in Sikkim, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh along with the Lok Sabha election.

And also, it is likely that assembly polls in Jammu & Kashmir will be held simultaneously.

The Jammu & Kashmir Assembly was dissolved on November 21 last year and the Election Commission is bound to hold elections in the state within a six-month period.

The EC held several meetings across the country in the last few weeks. All the required Electronic Voting Machines and VVPAT ( (Voter verifiable paper audit trail), are said to be deployed in the polling stations in 543 constituencies.
