ISRO Launched Young Scientist Programme For School Children

Indian Space Research Organisation has open up a special programme for School Children called “Young Scientist Programme” “Yuva Vigyani Karyakram”  from this year.

The Program is mainly design at imparting basic knowledge on Space Technology, Space Science and Space Applications to the younger ones with the intent of arousing their curiosity in the emerging areas of Space activities.

ISRO has planned out this programme to “Catch them young”.

The following  training programme will be of around two weeks. And it will during summer holidays and it is proposed to select 3 students each from each State/ Union Territory to participate in this programme every year covering CBSE, ICSE and State syllabus.

Those who have completed 8th standard and presently studying in 9th standard will be in line for the programme.

The research organisation  has consulted the Chief Secretaries of the respective States and also the Administrators of Union Territories in India to arrange for the selection of 3 students from each of their State and Union Territory and pass on the list to ISRO.

The selection is based on the students  performance in academic and extracurricular activities, which is clearly mentioned in the selection process already given to Chief Secretaries of States/ Administrators of UTs.

Students from the rural area have been given special weightage in the selection process.

The list of the selected students from each state is expected by March end 2019
