In his first visit to the United States as vice president, M Venkaiah Naidu will address people of an Indian origin in Chicago at an event to mark the 125th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda's speech at the Parliament of Religions in 1893.

The event will take place on the last day of the World Hindu Congress, which commences on September 7 and ends September 9.

The WHC, which is held for every four years is expected to be attended by more than 2,500 Hindus from over 80 countries and is being organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad America.

Dissimilar to the WHC for which participants have to pre-register, the event to observe Vivekananda's speech is open to the public.

Naidu, in his address, is likely to discuss the relevance of teachings of Vivekananda in the modern-day world and how his preaching could be helpful in addressing major global and societal problems.
