TADA Court Sentenced Abu Salem To Life Imprisonment

After 24 years of Mumbai Blast 1993, on Thursday TADA (Terrorist and Disruptive Activity) court has sentenced Abu Salem to life imprisonment. The court has also given life time sentence and slapped 2 lakhs fine on another convict Karimullah.

The court has convicted a total of 6 people on June 16 this year including mastermind behind this attack Mustafa Dossa and Abu Salem. 257 people were killed and over 700 people were injured as a series of bomb blasts took place in Mumbai on March 12, 1993.

According to reports, this activity was planned by Dawood Ibrahim, most wanted criminal in India, US and Inter pole. This was second leg of the trail. All the accused were facing multiple charges which include criminal conspiracy, waging war against India and murder.

The court said, Salem who was close to Dawood’s Brother Anees Ibrahim and Dossa, took on himself to bring a part of arms and ammulation from Dighi to Mumbai, “Vital towards achievement of the conspiracy so that weapons could be used to terrorize and torment innocent citizens of India”.

Another Two convicts Tahir Merchant and Feroz Khan were sentenced to death. Abu Salem was extradited from Portugal in 2005; he couldn’t be sentenced due to the guarantee given to Portuguese. Dossa died of cardiac arrest at JJ Hospital shortly after being convicted.
