New Jersey Lost13,000 Jobs In The Month Of May

New Jersey lost 13,000 jobs as the employers cut 14,000 private-sector jobs in the month of May, the unemployment rate was held constant at 4.1 percent.

According to the report from state Department of Labor and Workforce Development, a loss of more than 13,000 jobs for the month of May. While the private sector jobs went down by more than 14,000, the state has added 900 public-sector jobs.

The labor department has boasted of steady, long-term job growth and also record the low unemployment rates. At the end of May, Governor Chris Christie has defended his economic record, and said "The economy has gotten better every way you measure it. More people are working. Less people are unemployed."

New Jersey's unemployment rate remains below the federal rate of 4.3 percent in the month of May.

Employers in the professional and business services have slashed 9,000 jobs; trade, transportation and utilities have cut 2,400; the financial activities lost 1,400; the education and health services lost 800; information has lost 500; and leisure and hospitality lost 400 jobs.

Two industries have added jobs, including 500 in the manufacturing and 100 in the construction.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics has also released improved results for the month of April, increasing the private-sector job gains from 1,900 to 2,900.
