Indian Held For Fake Canadian Passport

An Indian homemaker is in the police custody after she was deported from Canada for flying with a forged passport. Bindu Patel, aged 34, an Ahmedabad resident, cleared the immigration checks at the city's international airport on 15th December, 2016, but the next day, after she landed in Canada, she failed to convince the authorities at Canada Airport. Patel was provided with a fake passport, that was issued to some other woman hailing from Gujarat.

Officials at the Canada airport got suspicious when they went through the documents which Patel produced for an immigration check to enter the country on 16th December, 2016. The Sahar police senior inspector B T Mukhedkar said that, suspicion was raised on Patel when she failed to explain about her identity. Patel also failed to convince them and later the officials learnt that she carried a fake passport. The officials are searching for the agent who provided Patel a fake passport, said the Sahar police senior inspector B T Mukhedkar.

Passport was originally issued in the name of Mayurika Shah from the Gujarat. "Patel approached the agent to fly to Canada for a job. She said she did not pay any money to the agent. Instead, he told her that after reaching Canada, he would start deducting a commission from her salary every month. The agent used Patel's photo on the passport that was issued to Shah," the investigators said.

Patel has been booked under various IPC sections, section 419 ( a punishment for cheating by personation), section 420 ( for cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), section 465 (forgery), section 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), section 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) and also section 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

The investigators have collected the details from Patel on the whereabouts of the agent.
