Indian-Americans To Honour Ian Grillot In Houston

Indian-Americans will honour a 24 years old American who was injured while trying to intervene during a racially-motivated shooting in the Kansas which left an Indian techie dead and another injured.

Ian Grillot was injured when he tried to intervene in the shooting by a Navy veteran targeting the Indians at a bar in Olathe, Kansas in the last month.

Srinivas Kuchibhotla, aged 32, was killed and also his colleague Alok Madasani was critically injured in the shooting.

Grillot will be honoured as 'A True American Hero', at the 14th annual gala of India House in Houston on March 25th.

Grillot said that, without all the prayers and positive support from everybody, I would not be doing as well as I am right now. It has been a blessing to be alive. I am looking forward to attend India House Gala event on March 25th, in Houston. You guys are wonderful and I thank you all for the support.

The annual Gala is the main fundraising event of the India House, with all proceeds going to the day-to-day community programmes and expansion of the India House.

The guests of honour this year include many dignitaries including India's Ambassador to the US Navtej Sarna, the former US Ambassador to India David Mulford, former US Assistant Secretary of State Nisha Biswal, Mayor Sylvester Turner, Harris County Judge Ed Emmett and also Master Chef Vikas Khanna.
