After a Pennsylvania woman was found dead in her home on New Year’s eve, her neighbor an alleged fugitive was arrested by the police, according to what authorities have described the woman had a chop wound on her head and a stab wound to her neck, PEOPLE confirms.

Justin Bartlett a 25 year old man was on the run for several days, was arrested, taken into custody on Monday in Fairmont, West Virginia, after a brief foot chase by police officers, according to Allegheny County Police.

Bartlett was wanted for questioning in the murder of his next-door neighbor, Linda McGinnis, a 63 year old woman of Brackenridge, the death of McGinnnis was ruled as a homicide, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Linda McGinnis was last seen at home on Friday morning and later it was reported that McGinnis missing after she failed to contact her mother, with whom she usually spoke multiple times a day, authorities said.

During the police investigation, officers determined that Bartlett had allegedly stolen McGinnis’ car and fled to Mannington, West Virginia, police say.

Police encountered Justin Bartlett on Saturday in Mannington. When he allegedly fled on foot into a wooded area, said police.

On Monday he was located by the police officers in Fairmont, and then he was arrested.

Police said, Justin Bartlett has an active arrest warrant on an unspecified unrelated case.

In 2014, Bartlett was sentenced up to two years in prison after being convicted of breaking into another man’s home and setting his cat on fire.

McGinnis lived alone with her dog, according to CBS affiliate KDKA.

“She was a little sweetheart person,” neighbor Lorraine Gross told KDKA. “She was very much to herself only and did not associate with a lot of the people around her.”

She also added: “This is a tragedy for the whole family. Such a tragedy.”
