It had been a busy weekend at Jim Presswood's House. The chairman of Arlington's Republican Party had been receiving local volunteers for coordinating the last few days of campaign before Tuesday's presidential election of 2016.
The volunteers had been presented with leaflets and maps of the local area upon the arrival, and then they have been given instructions on the best methods for going door-to-door to campaign.
Dustin Hodges , Deputy Precinct Operations Director said the volunteers, "You ask them, 'if the election was today - who would you vote for, Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump?'.
The small group of participants were packed into Presswood's living room and awaited for the further round instructions. 58 years old retired civil servant, Jim Scarborough was one among them. With his, check shirt white beard and bright red "Make America Great Again" hat, Scarborough said that it has been a difficult year of campaigning. He added, "This year people are voting against a candidate, rather than for one. It's tough, but Trump is for America first,".
With the help of 13 electoral college votes as stake, Virginia became the latest battleground in the electorial fight to the White House.
As Republican state , President Barack Obama had become the first Democrat to win Virginia historically since 1964 and the Clinton campaign has shown that it can happen again.
