College Park murder, suspect killed wife in Bel Air

Authorities from Prince George's and Harford counties have been investigating two homicides and a suicide after police said that a man killed his wife and son before taking his own life.

Police said that a woman had been killed on Wednesday in a suspected domestic-related homicide in Bel Air. Harford County sheriff's deputies were called at 10:14 PM on Wednesday to the 1200 block of Mikara Court for a well-being check.

The well-being check came after deputies received calls from two different sources when family members were unable to get in contact with the three, Harford County Sheriff's Maj. William Davis said during a news conference on Thursday afternoon.

Deputies were unable to contact the residents. When they noticed investigative evidence, deputies forced their way inside. They found a woman with a gunshot wound to the head dead in a bathroom. Authorities believe she died several hours before the deputies arrived. The victim was identified as Zarqa Siddique, 48, of Bel Air.

"Deputies certainly believed that there was someone possibly in need of emergency assistance inside the house, which is why they forced entry and unfortunately they were correct, but a little bit too late," Davis said.

Harford County Sheriff’s Office detectives and a forensic services unit were called to the scene to process evidence. Investigators identified the victim's husband, Nasir Siddique, 57, who was not at the home, as the suspect.

There were no previous indications of any problems, no calls for service and no domestic violence reported at the home, Davis said. He said some notes were left behind, but didn't not elaborate on what the notes said. Davis said a motive is not clear.

"We don't have a clear determination on exactly what caused (Nasir Siddique) to commit these atrocities," Davis said.
