October 23 has been fixed as date of further hearing in Modi selfie case by the Gujarat high court. A petition was earlier filed concerning the alleged poll code breach by Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India. The allegation was over taking a selfie with party symbol and even addressing press conference on 30 April 2014, the day of general elections.
On Thursday, the matter was placed before Justice J B Pardiwala after it was recused by Justice G R Udhwani from the case. Justice J B Pardiwala said, "Matter to appear at serial number one on October 23 with an understanding that it will be heard peremptorily."
The case history was apprised by the public prosecutor Mitesh Amin as well as petitioner Nishant Varma's counsel K R Koshti, after which court adjourned hearing. The case was admitted by Justice Udhwani and was later deferred the order of admission till 6 October 2015. This was to offer the state government more chance to defend the decision of the lower court of rejecting Varma's application to add charges against Modi as well as sections invoked by the Election Commission of India. Later the Modi got a clean chit by the city crime branch in this case.
