In the foreign countries, along with the well known Telugu associations like NATA (North American Telugu Association) and TANA (Telugu Association of North America), APTA (American Progressive Telugu Association) is another such association, where a large number of Telugu speaking people, living in the East and the West coasts came forward and developed a good network for the Telugu people in the United States.
What kind of support APTA gives?
APTA mainly supports the US Based Telugu people, in meeting all kinds of needs like moving to new places, searching for jobs, higher studies in other states, matrimonial needs for youngsters, supporting un-foreseen family and medical emergencies. The most significant thing they perform is protecting the Telugu culture by organizing cultural events and regional/national get-togethers on a regular basis.
What makes APTA differentiated from other Telugu associations is, it focuses mainly on the talented but poor students and makes sure they are provided with the best education.
Regarding this, right from its inauguration, i.e., from 2008 to 2013, APTA supported 300 talented students of Andhra Pradesh, by spending $90000 on their education.
The American residents need relocation documents, when they decide to change their residence. At that time, APTA does the required help, by receiving a single phone call by the needy.
The Indian students, who wish to pursue the higher education in the American institutes and those who requires the details of H1 VISA can send a single mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. The process of availing the Green card by H1, L1 VISA holders and also various Immigration details can be found out through APTA.
If at all, the APTA members faced unfortunate incidents like accidents which lead to death, the APTA gives moral and financial support to the victims’ family members.
For instance, in 2009, after demisal of a man named Saladi Mohan in Virginia, $10000 were collected in just two days and supported their family.
Entertainment is not a question in APTA
Along with the regular services, APTA even conducts get-togethers and picnics every year for all the Telugu people in the US. Telugu biggies from the various industries attend these celebrations.
As a part of those celebrations, this year, the guest list includes Deputy CM and Home minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa, Botsa Satya Narayana YSRCP leader, Sri Sampoornaanandagiri Swamiji, MLA Dr. K Laxman, Guntur MLC Satish Prabhakar, RTI Comissioner Vijay Baba, Congress MLC floor leader Rama Chandraiah, Sai Sudhakar Naidu, no.1 news channel, along with the singers Mallikarjun, Sai Shilpa, Janardhan Pannela and classical dancer Srutha Keerthi.
