Maggi, the popular brand of Nestle India, has been in the news  after the concerned authorities found the harmful food additives, lead and MSG in the noodle packs above the permitted level. The controversy has dragged Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit and Preity Zinta into the trouble for endorsing the product and pushed some of the federal units to ban the product.

The company has moved to Bombay High Court for reviewing the order by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Maharashtra on June 6 and an order issued by FSSAI on June 5.

The interpretation of the Food Safety and Standards Act 2011, would be put forward for a proper outcome. The company is likely to raise the loopholes in the act with their norms.

However, the company has been recalling the Maggi noodle products, citing it respects the health of people in India. The instant noodles were tested by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India’s (FSSAI) and it found MSG (monosodium glutamate) and lead.

So far 11 states of India have banned the Maggi Noodles, while 9 other states have sent the product for tests. The standards of the food laws have to be altered in accordance with the changing notion in the world and the problems arising due to improper monitoring and certifications.

The rise and need of laboratory tests on food products hinting at good quality to ensure better health of the Indian citizens.
