Shiv kumar Yadav, a cab driver of Uber cabs, who got arrested in a rape case on sunday evening in Mathura of Uttar Pradesh was earlier also jailed in sexual assault case 3 years ago and later acquitted in that case.How ever the Police department of Delhi had expressed concern about his character and Uber management.
On 5th of this month he committed rape on a 27 year old finance executive of Gurgaon based firm. Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers and NSUI members staged protests outside the residence of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh over the issue this morning.
Rajnath said the incident was a shame on the society and that strong steps will be taken to check such crimes."I believe that there cannot be more unfortunate or shameful incident. We are saddened by incidents like these. Stern steps need to be taken," he told reporters.
The Minister said that existing laws needed to be implemented more effectively and efforts should be made to bring about a perceptional change in the society.
The AAP activists and NSUI workers staged protest on front of the minister's home. Women activists , Students and common people are expressing concern about unsafe conditions for women in national capital.
